EU funding for modern healthcare in the Pomurje region

The Ministry of Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Development has approved EU funding for the refurbishment of the catheterisation laboratory premises at Murska Sobota General Hospital. The project will receive just over €4.6 million from the European Regional Development Fund.

The investment covers the renovation and extension of part of the Murska Sobota General Hospital complex. The new premises will house a modern catheterisation laboratory equipped with a new angiography system, as well as associated facilities for patients, healthcare staff and other support services.

The investment aims to improve the conditions for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The existing facilities used for coronary angiography are too small and no longer meet modern spatial and technical requirements. In addition, the existing angiography system no longer provides adequate working conditions due to its technical characteristics. The project will provide suitable, modernly equipped premises that comply with applicable technical requirements and standards. The new equipment will enable healthcare staff to deliver healthcare services under improved working conditions.

Access to specialist healthcare for residents of the Pomurje region will improve, which will help reduce disparities in access to healthcare services between Pomurje and other parts of Slovenia. The aim is to ensure that patients have more equitable and timely access to the healthcare they need.

The project is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027. The total project value is €6,382,734.20, of which €4,662,543.89 will be provided by the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiary of the funding is the Ministry of Health.
