EU funding for electric bus charging infrastructure in Maribor

The project will establish charging infrastructure for electric buses used in Maribor’s urban public transport system. The investment includes the purchase and installation of 18 charging devices with 22 charging points and a total connected capacity of 2,330 kilowatts. The necessary areas and connections for linking the charging stations to the electricity grid will also be provided, along with appropriate parking spaces for charging the buses.

The charging infrastructure will be established at four locations in Maribor: at the main bus station on the Mlinski ulica Street, on the Jadranska cesta Road, at the Tezenska Dobrava bus stop, and in the area of the workshops of the Marprom public utility company in Pobrežje.

The investment will provide the appropriate conditions for uninterrupted operation of electric buses, improve the quality of urban public transport, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution and noise in the city.

The project, worth €3,320,349.48, is implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 and will receive €1,850,686.60 in EU funding. The Urban Municipality of Maribor is the beneficiary of the funding.
