Over €17 million in EU funding to strengthen the research capacity of University of Maribor
As part of the project, the University of Maribor, one of Slovenia’s leading research and higher education institutions, will equip its research facilities with new state-of-the-art research equipment. The investment will enhance research conditions, support the development of new knowledge, technologies and innovative solutions, and contribute to strengthening Slovenia’s research capacity.
The upgrade is part of a broader INNOVUM platform designed to improve research and education conditions at the University of Maribor. The investment will promote closer collaboration between national and international research institutions, strengthen links between research and industry, accelerating the transfer of knowledge and innovation into practice. In addition, it will further enhance the research capacity of University of Maribor, creating opportunities for new researchers.
Minister Dr Monika Kirbiš Rojs said on this occasion: “Successful countries are built on knowledge, innovation and the ability to translate research excellence into practical solutions. This is why cohesion policy funding supports projects that strengthen research capacity in eastern Slovenia, foster collaboration between universities and businesses, and create the conditions for high-quality jobs with high added value. This investment will deliver long-term benefits for researchers, businesses and the wider region.”
The €20,415,449.65 project will be implemented under Slovenia’s EU Cohesion Policy Programme 2021-2027 and will receive €17,353,132.20 from the European Regional Development Fund. The beneficiary of the funding is the University of Maribor.
