New Minister Mateja Ribič takes office

Mateja Ribič assumed office as the new Minister of the Ministry of Demography, Family and Social Affairs. On this occasion, she pointed out that one of the Ministry's priorities will be regulating the long-term care system, increasing social policy efficiency and facing national demographic challenges.

Minister Mateja Ribič takes over from her predecessors Luka Mesec and Simon Maljevac.

With the reorganisation of the government, a part of the tasks and responsibilities of the former Ministry for a Solidarity-Based Future passed under the jurisdiction of the new Ministry of Demography, Family and Social Affairs, and part of the former Ministry of Labour, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities passed under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of the Economy, Labour and Sports, led by Minister Anže Logar. 

Upon taking office, Minister Mateja Ribič emphasised that one of her main priorities would be to reform the long-term care system by eliminating disparities in payments for services and accelerating decision-making processes by establishing a more efficient information system.

Among the Ministry's key priorities, she also highlighted strengthening the control over social transfers and promoting the active working population, stressing the importance of equity and providing assistance for those who truly need it.

In the area of ​​family policy, she announced measures to improve the country's demographic outlook, which include measures in housing, education and taxation.

After the handover of duties, Minister Ribič thanked her predecessors Luka Mesec and Simon Maljevac for their work. She believes that the two former ministers carried out their duties to the best of their ability and stressed that she would continue to do so in the future and that her work would be based on cooperation and finding solutions to long-term social challenges.

Minister Ribič's predecessor thanked the staff for their constructive efforts. He said that through their work they had demonstrated that welfare and development can go hand in hand.
