Ministry hosts election observers from the European Platform for Democratic Elections
The EPDE is a network of 17 independent, non-political organisations involved in election observation and formulating expert recommendations for electoral reforms. The members of the observation group visiting the Ministry today, who are meeting with the National Electoral Commission and other Slovenian institutions this week, come from various countries, including Slovakia, Poland, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Romania, Sweden and Germany.
The Director-General of the Directorate For Local Self-Government, Non-Governmental Organisations and the Political System, Mateja Prešern and her colleagues presented the Ministry's key activities regarding the National Assembly elections.
She highlighted that, as the coordinator of the National Election Network, the Ministry has been ensuring cooperation and the exchange of best practices among the various institutions involved in delivering the high-quality and transparent electoral procedures for several years.
In addition to presenting the regulatory framework governing elections and election campaigns, the Ministry briefed the group on its latest publications. These include the updated version of the Guide for the Organisers of the Election and Referendum Campaigns, and the Easy-to-Read Information on Elections, Referendums, and Citizen's Initiatives in Slovenia. The Ministry also informs the public about the various ways in which voters can participate in elections through its website and other communication channels.
