Ambassador Iztok Mirošič met with the Director of the Office of Global Affairs at the Smithsonian Institution, Aviva Rosenthal, and with the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Meridian International Center and member of the National Geographic Board, Deborah Lehr in in Washington, DC.

All three organizations play a key role in promoting international cultural exchange, strengthening global cooperation and connecting diplomats from different parts of the world. In the conversation, they touched upon the possibilities of cooperation of all three mentioned institutions with Slovenia in the fields of culture, science, museology and archives, as well as in the fields of biodiversity conservation, aviation, technological development, political and social history, ecology and the environment, and programs and initiatives on the occasion of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States of America with the possibility of Slovenia's participation.
