Ambassador Mirošič at the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit in Washington, D.C.

On February 24, 2026, Ambassador Iztok Mirošič attended the Transatlantic Gas Security Summit in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy Bojan Kumer. The event was hosted by the Chair of the White House National Energy Dominance Council (NEDC), Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum, and the Deputy Chairman, Secretary of Energy Chris Wright.

The day-long event brought together government representatives and energy industry leaders to support efforts to reduce dependence on Russian energy sources and strengthen transatlantic cooperation on a secure and diverse supply of natural gas to Europe, including by increasing the flow of US gas throughout Eastern Europe.

Slovenia is a member of the Transatlantic Energy Partnership (P-TEC), an international platform coordinated by the US Department of Energy that brings together the United States, 24 countries from Eastern and Central Europe, and the European Union, providing resources and technical support to build affordable, reliable, and secure energy systems. It is US support for European energy security efforts, including the EU Energy Union Framework, and the Three Seas Initiative (3SI).

In his remarks, Ambassador Mirošič welcomed the US commitment to European efforts to strengthen energy resilience and diversify gas supply sources, the important contribution of nuclear energy to achieving long-term energy goals, and emphasized concern for environmental goals.
