A basic payment account is a special type of payment account offered to customers by banks and savings banks, providing access to the most commonly used payment services. It is primarily intended for consumers who do not have a transaction account. The fee for maintaining a basic payment account is regulated, and for vulnerable groups of consumers it is additionally reduced.

In order to make information about the right to a basic payment account and the procedures for opening one as accessible as possible to all consumers, the National Payments Council has prepared an informational leaflet with the slogan “Nobody without a payment account”. The leaflets will be available at various contact points, such as social work centres, tax administration offices, information points for foreigners, non-governmental organisations.

More information about consumers’ right to a basic payment account is available on the website of the Bank of Slovenia.
