    Home Guard Barracks in Ljubljana

The barracks along Roška Road and Poljanska Road was constructed to meet the needs of the Ljubljana Home Guard garrison at the turn of the 20th century. Under various names, it continued to serve its original purpose until Slovenia gained independence in 1991, when it took on a new role. At the end of 2024, it became the new home of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, which, among other records, also holds a number of interesting documents relating to this originally military complex.

About the Italian Spy Anton Kravanja – Koc

Throughout the transitional period at the end of the First World War, the internal political administration of the Slovenian part of the new Yugoslav state faced a complex situation and numerous challenges. It needed to handle the population’s poor living conditions, civil unrest, the Italian occupation of a large portion of its territory, military operations along the northern border … Spies, both real and imagined, were believed to be active everywhere. This month’s archivalia presents a case of Anton Kravanja from Soča, who appeared highly suspicious already at first glance.
