In his address, Prime Minister Golob emphasised that he speaks from the heart on such occasions. "The Šentvid pri Stični Children's Hospital is truly something special in Slovenia, and I am grateful to everyone who made this project possible," he said. He acknowledged that the path to completion had been challenging and extended his congratulations to the hospital's director, Tanja Smrekar, the hospital team and everyone who contributed to the project.
"We often speak of children as our greatest treasure. But when it comes to caring for them, parents are often left to face challenges alone. This new investment is truly remarkable as it allows children and their parents to stay together, not only in cases when children need treatment but also when they require rehabilitation," Prime Minister Golob said. He added that it is crucial children have the time they need to recover and regain normal functioning, and equally important that parents are supported as they support their children.
"Anyone who has walked this path knows how difficult it is to hope for what seems impossible, and how joyful it is when a child makes progress you never expected. This is the house of hope, Rainbow House, that has now been established," the Prime Minister said. He stressed that it is hope that matters most. "Thank you to the children for the courage you give us, to the parents for trusting the public healthcare system, Rainbow House and the Children's Hospital. And above all, a big thank you to all hospital staff for the heart you give to all of us," concluded Prime Minister Golob.
In the new wing of the Šentvid pri Stični Children's Hospital, the number of beds has increased from 45 to 70, improving access to a wider range of healthcare services and raising the standard of hospital rooms.
The investment is valued at nearly EUR 11.4 million, resulting in a modern facility with spaces adapted for both children and parents, designed according to the latest standards of paediatric care. It also represents further steps taken in the development of paediatric healthcare in Slovenia, strengthening the network of health services for children and adolescents alike.
