Slovenian Traditional Breakfast at the 75th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe

At the 75th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe (RC75th), Slovenia highlighted how health, sustainability, and support for local products can be combined into a thoughtful vision for the future. The message was clear: caring for people and caring for the planet are inseparable goals, and meaningful progress requires addressing both simultaneously.

Bringing together health-focused leaders, the RC75th offered a perfect setting to start raising awareness of the Traditional Slovenian Breakfast initiative happening across Slovenia. On October 30, delegates were warmly welcomed with a taste of this tradition. They enjoyed a delicious selection of bread, butter, apples, milk, and, of course, generous amounts of honey - sourced from both Slovenian and Danish beekeepers. The room was filled with smiles and curiosity as participants learned more about this beloved Slovenian tradition, taking place across Slovenia today 21 November 2025.

The event also offered another reason to celebrate: Slovenia was elected as a member of the Standing Committee of the WHO Regional Committee for Europe, giving it an active role in guiding key regional health priorities in the years ahead. The country will be represented by Denis Kordež, State Secretary at the Ministry of Health. In his remarks, State Secretary Kordež emphasized Slovenia’s strong commitment to multilateral cooperation and highlighted the importance of advancing the goal of “health for all” within the WHO framework, led by Dr. Hans Kluge.

Slovenia’s contributions at the session reflect its broader strategic vision: an approach that integrates human health, environmental stewardship, support for local products, and international collaboration. By bringing these elements together, Slovenia aims to help shape a healthier, more sustainable, and more resilient future for the entire WHO European Region.
