The President of the Republic welcomes the Government’s prompt response and its readiness to address the situation that has caused public concern. At the same time, she stresses that all proposed measures must remain within the constitutional framework and in line with the fundamental principles of the rule of law. The President recognises the need to ensure public safety, which must also be addressed through enhanced supervision, particularly by the police as the state authority whose primary duty is to guarantee the safety of individuals and the community. She hopes that such proposals will be carefully considered and grounded in professional rather than political decisions, and in the principles of the rule of law, especially proportionality. The use of the armed forces, if required, should be a measure of last resort, not the first response.
