In his keynote address, the Prime Minister emphasised that those working in education strive every day to create a better society. "For small societies like Slovenia, knowledge is key to gaining recognition both at home and around the world. Only through knowledge can our society build a better future. Since the beginning of our term of office, we have been working in accordance with these principles," he said.
The Prime Minister added that the pillar of knowledge is the very foundation on which the Government wishes to build its policies, both in this and the next term of office. "The pillar of knowledge begins in kindergarten, continues through primary and secondary school, and doesn't end at university. Instead, it culminates in innovative, independent and critically thinking individuals who contribute to building both the economy and society in a broader sense," he emphasised.
The Prime Minister went on to highlight that the most important values are formed through education. "It was at school that our attitudes towards people outside our families, our fellow human beings, and those we did not know were shaped. Whether we liked it or not, it was there that we began to accept differences and learn that a group is always stronger than an individual. Through education, we have learned how to set our life path in order to succeed in society," he said.
Prime Minister Golob thanked the Ministry of Education for a significant progress made in recent years in its field and for its work to improve the entire chain of knowledge creation in the country.
He stressed that the measures adopted during this term of office improve the position of workers in education. "The pay reform is a way to rebuild respect for all of you who work in this sector. Through all the next steps, particularly by enabling young professionals to enter the school system, providing better and more accessible opportunities for recognition and reward, and ensuring that your sector will receive a Christmas bonus for the first time in history this year, we want to demonstrate through action rather than words that we value what you do," the Prime Minister was clear.
In closing, he once again paid tribute to everyone working in education. "I hold you in the highest regard, not only for the awards you are receiving but also for all the tireless work you do every single day. Thank you," concluded the Prime Minister.
