Reception for the Slovenian community on the occasion of the visit of the President of the Republic of Slovenia in New York

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Mirošič highlighted the embassy’s continued engagement with the Slovenian community in the U.S. and in New York, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the U.S., particularly in science, technology, energy, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and space. He emphasized the vital role of the Slovenian community as a bridge between the two nations, while once again underlining the importance of reopening the Consulate General in New York.
President Nataša Pirc Musar, the evening’s guest of honor, expressed her gratitude to Slovenians in New York for preserving their language, culture and identity. The community was also addressed by Father Martin Krizolog, who has successfully led the Slovenian parish in New York since 1991.
The reception at the Slovenian Church of St. Cyril in New York, which is an important meeting place for the Slovenian community in New York, was attended by more than 120 visitors, mostly Slovenians living and working in New York. The reception was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon, the Minister of Health Dr. Valentina Prevolnik Rupel, the Minister of the Environment, Climate and Energy Mag. Bojan Kumer and the former President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor.
The event was sponsored by the Slovenian company Klet Brda, which has a successful presence on the American market with its products.
The cultural program featured Slovenian saxophonist Igor Lumpert, based in New York, accompanied by Santiago Leibson.
