Inspections in hospitality and tourism
The Labour Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia has launched inspections during the summer season, when workloads in the hospitality and tourism sector are particularly high. The campaign, which will continue until the end of October 2025, is aimed at preventing and detecting violations of labour legislation, which are frequently observed in this industry. Inspectors are paying special attention to violations related to the payment of the annual leave allowance, as this right is essential for the recovery of workers’ physical and mental capacity.
The inspections are also focused on the following areas, where breaches have most often been identified in the past:
- Payment for work: Compliance with all statutory provisions regarding remuneration is being verified, with particular attention to possible unequal pay for business performance.
- Working time: Inspectors are examining the organisation of working hours, possible non-compliance with breaks and rest periods, as well as overtime work.
- Record-keeping: The proper maintenance of records on working time is also being checked.
In line with the Programme Guidelines for 2025, inspectors are paying particular attention to the situation of third-country nationals. The inspections cover both the respect of their employment rights and the adequacy of their accommodation conditions.
Employers are advised to exercise greater diligence and care in organising work and fulfilling obligations under labour legislation. By doing so, they not only reduce the risk of violations and sanctions but also contribute to a better working environment, greater safety, and increased employee satisfaction.
