State Secretary Levičar with representatives of Westinghouse

On 11 September 2025, State Secretary Danijel Levičar attended the international conference Nuclear Energy for New Europe, which took place in Bled.

At the conference, he met with representatives of Westinghouse, alongside two representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Slovenia who were also present. He and Mr Roman Romanowski, Vice President of Energy Systems at Westinghouse Electric Company, discussed the status of nuclear projects in Europe and around the world. Mr Romanowski confirmed the successful completion of the technical feasibility study conducted for GEN energija. He also confirmed that the location in Krško is suitable for the implementation of the JEK2 project.

State Secretary Levičar said that JEK2 is an important national strategic project aimed at ensuring reliable supply of clean energy. He outlined the status of the project and key preparatory activities currently underway to his interlocutors.

Those present agreed that cooperation between stakeholders is at a high level.
