Due to an ambiguous and misleading referendum question, the Svoboda political party puts forward a decision abrogating the National Assembly decision calling for a consultative referendum
The meeting was attended by the representatives of Social Democrats, the Left, New Slovenia, Democrats and the representatives of the Italian and Hungarian national communities.
In his statement to the media after the meeting, Prime Minister Golob said: "This week I held a series of consultations, including with constitutional law experts, and the conclusion was clear – that the referendum question passed in the National Assembly last week is ambiguous as well as misleading. Therefore, the only reasonable step is to set aside such decision on the referendum question. Today, Svoboda filed a motion to hold another vote in order to abrogate the decision of the National Assembly calling for the referendum that was proposed by the Left. At today’s meeting, we offered all the present parties that we file this motion together. I have to say I had the feeling that many were in favour of holding this vote. And that is the most positive outcome of this meeting, where we exchanged our honest opinions both on the defence and security policy and the events in the National Assembly last week."
