Amendments to the Health Services Act adopted, strengthening public health institutions

The National Assembly adopted the Act Amending the Health Services Act (ZZDej-N). It is one of the fundamental healthcare acts, as it regulates health services as a whole, public health services, health service providers, healthcare workers and co-workers and other key issues related to the provision of health services.

"The Act regulates in detail the conditions for entry into the system of activities and the network of public health services, strengthens the role of public institutions, clearly distinguishes between public and market activities and addresses in detail the provision of health services within and outside the public network and the related transfer of health personnel," explains Minister of Health Valentina Prevolnik Rupel. "The amendments to the Act will strengthen the functioning of the public network and public institutions as the fundamental or primary providers of public health services, which is in the interest of everyone; not only the state and municipalities, but also healthcare workers and associates, and especially patients."

The solutions provided by the Act are directly aimed at ensuring effective and equal access to healthcare, the continuous, coordinated and uninterrupted provision of public health services, the actual improvement of working conditions and the transparent operation of health services.
