Five new public rental housing units in Pivka

Minister of a Solidarity-Based Future Simon Maljevac, together with Mayor Robert Smrdelj, today opened five new public rental housing units in Pivka. The purchase and renovation of the building was supported by the Ministry with funds from the European Recovery and Resilience Plan.

In his opening remarks, the Minister emphasised that "this is an important achievement for Pivka, as the five new apartments we are opening today are in line with the two fundamental objectives of the Ministry of a Solidarity-Based Future, which I head – namely, the construction of public rental housing and care for the elderly members of our society. As you know, all five apartments will be intended for employees of the local care home, which will have an extremely positive impact on the provision of long-term care in the municipality and, by improving housing conditions, will strengthen social cohesion in Pivka. Access to quality and affordable housing is essential to providing a stable environment for employees in key professions. This project is an excellent example of good practice, and I hope it will encourage similar initiatives in other municipalities." The Minister also pointed out that five apartments is not a small number for Pivka, as it is comparable to opening approximately 250 apartments in Ljubljana.

The total value of the project was just under EUR 0.7 million, of which EUR 0.4 million was provided by the municipality and EUR 309,000 by the Ministry of a Solidarity-Based Future from the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
