After the session, Minister of Health Valentina Prevolnik Rupel said: "This is one of the key acts in the field of health care and an important step for our Ministry and the Government in general. The new amendments follow the announced strategy, which remains unchanged: to regulate or organise health services. Among other things, it regulates the transfer of employees from public to private healthcare. Above all, it encourages employees to work harder or remain in their home institutions."

The amendment to the Health Services Act is, among other things, part of the reform activities in the field of healthcare within the context of the Recovery and Resilience Plan financed by the European Union – NextGenerationEU. A condition for obtaining EU funds for the implementation of planned investments is also the fulfilment of milestones and targets in reform measures.
