Minister Čalušić and FAO Director-General on cooperation and best practices in agriculture

ector-Genreal of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations QU Dongyu visited Slovenia at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Slovenia Nataša Pirc Musar. As part of his visit to Slovenia, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food Mateja Čalušić will host the Director-General today and tomorrow. Today, they visited two farms in the vicinity of Ljubljana and the Municipality of Dol pri Ljubljani.

Minister Mateja Čalušić and Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) QU Dongyu started their meeting in the framework of the programme organised by the President of the Republic of Slovenia. The visit continued at Pr' Dovč farm in Podšentjur. The farm is engaged in cattle, poultry and milk production, and it participates in the Selected Quality – Slovenia quality scheme for milk and cattle. The farm uses modern technologies, such as a milking robot.

The Municipality of Dol pri Ljubljani was their next destination. The Municipality used its own and European funds to preserve the built cultural heritage. They also established a new administrative centre in a 170-year-old farm, turning it into a tourist spot and a gathering place for locals and visitors. The mayor presented projects led by the local community and other development activities in the Municipality. Their successful projects include the Parc of Life and Bee Story Connects, aiming to revive the heart of the village, and a new apiary.

Today's visit finished in Pr' Krač farm in Dolsko pri Ljubljani, where Minister and FAO Director-General discussed Slovenia's cooperation with FAO and other activities vital for agriculture and rural areas.

Tomorrow, they will discover the examples of good practice in Slovenian Istria. They will visit the InnoRenew CoE in Izola and the Bordon winery in Dekani.
