Krško Nuclear Power Plant starts with replacement of damaged pipeline

Krško Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) commenced with repairs on a damaged pipeline of the safety injection system after the plant shutdown and transfer of fuel assemblies from the reactor to the spent fuel pool.

Currently, the damaged part of the pipeline is being replaced with the new one. As a preventive measure, the identical branch of the safety injection system's pipeline on the other side of the reactor vessel is going to be replaced as well, although no coolant leak occurred there.

The Slovenian Nuclear Safety Administration (SNSA) supervises the situation and execution of the repair works from the onset of the detected leak, with the help from dedicated Technical Support Organizations (TSOs). Apart from inspections that are conducted by the SNSA, there are weekly meetings held at the NPP between the NPP’s staff, SNSA and TSOs, where advances in repair works as well as technical- and safety details are discussed and dealt with. If the repair works are properly carried out, all the required tests successfully executed, and the appropriate approvals gained from the SNSA and TSOs, the startup of the NPP is presumably going to take place in November.
