Prime Minister Robert Golob today sent a proposal for the appointment of a new minister of health

Today, Prime Minister Dr Robert Golob sent a proposal to the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia for the appointment of Prof. Dr Valentina Prevolnik Rupel to the post of minister of health.

Prof. Dr Valentina Prevolnik Rupel holds a degree in economics. In 2008 she obtained her PhD at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana with a doctoral dissertation entitled 'The impact of quality of life on priority setting and the efficiency of resource allocation in healthcare'. Her career has given her extensive experience in the healthcare sector. At the Institute for Economic Research in Ljubljana, she worked in the field of healthcare and long-term care, and also as Chair of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Economic Research. She has lectured at the DOBA Faculty of Applied Business and Social Studies in Maribor. In recent years, she has worked mainly in the area of outcome measurement and the definition of quality indicators and value-based care, with a broader focus on healthcare financing and health insurance and the evaluation of health technologies. As a member of the Strategic Council for Healthcare, she has been involved in the development of measures to rehabilitate the healthcare system, and in the past she has worked as an advisor to the Minister of Health and as an advisor to the Director General of the Health Insurance Institute of Slovenia. She is currently State Secretary at the Ministry of Health.

She has stated that her aim is to ensure accessible and high-quality healthcare in the public healthcare system, and to ensure stable financing by establishing an adequate basket of entitlements.
