Slovenian and Bosnian interior ministers in favour of close cooperation on migration

Minister of the Interior Boštjan Poklukar spoke by telephone with the Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nenad Nešić, to exchange information on migration and border management. They agreed on a visit by Minister Nešić to Slovenia in early November.

Mr Poklukar stressed the importance of effective border and migration management. He also expressed his support for the enhanced role of Frontex in Bosnia and Herzegovina and, therefore, for the early start of negotiations on an agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Frontex.

He pledged that Slovenia would continue to cooperate closely with the countries of the region and Bosnia and Herzegovina in the area of migration and internal security, in activities aimed at reducing migratory pressure and in the fight against organised crime, people smuggling and radicalisation.

Mr Poklukar took the opportunity to thank Bosnia and Herzegovina for the assistance it had provided to Slovenia following the catastrophic floods.
