Prime Minister Robert Golob: The number 114 is a synonym for help in the event of natural disasters

Prime Minister Robert Golob visited the call centre for assistance to residents after the floods, which started its operation today.

The call centre, which will be led by Andrej Šter from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, aims to provide centralised up-to-date, reliable and comprehensive information on recovery efforts following the floods that impacted almost two-thirds of Slovenia in August 2023.

It will be staffed by a team of employees from the ministries and government offices who are committed to helping flood victims. Prime Minister Robert Golob emphasised that the call centre is specific, as it covers all areas of state administration: "I believe that it will be proved that state and public administration are invaluable to the people when they stand by the people." He believes that this practice will also be used in the event of future natural disasters: "The number 114 will become a synonym for help in the event of natural disasters, the help provided by the state to all who need it."

The call centre will operate from 8:00 to 16:00 on weekdays and from 8:00 to 13:00 on Saturdays. Prime Minister Golob also emphasised that this hammers home an important message of solidarity: "The public administration will work some Saturdays for the benefit of the people" and urged residents to contact the number 114 with any questions.

The call centre had already received more than 100 calls by noon. Residents mainly asked questions about electricity payments, rehabilitation, drying out flood damaged buildings and the start of the school year.
