Confirmed contributions to international organisations for development cooperation and humanitarian aid

At yesterday's session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia approved the proposals of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs for contributions to international organisations for development cooperation and humanitarian aid (2023–2025).

With these contributions, Slovenia follows the principle of effective multilateralism in implementing its foreign policy objectives and interests through cooperation with international organisations and other international bodies, both in policy-making and in the activities in the field. In line with Slovenia's development cooperation and humanitarian aid priorities, the majority of the funds is earmarked for international organisations active in emergency response, water and environmental protection, food security and gender equality.

The International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Food Programme, the United Nations Children's Fund and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees are some of the main recipients of humanitarian contributions. Similarly, development projects are mainly financed through UN agencies and funds.

The total amount of funds approved is EUR 2,194,653, of which EUR 1,620,000 is intended for humanitarian contributions and EUR 364,653 for development cooperation contributions.
