Minister of the Interior Boštjan Poklukar informed the audience that an interdepartmental working group was being set up at the ministry to prepare a strategy on integration. It will be chaired by State Secretary Tina Heferle, with Katarina Štrukelj, Director of the Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants, as her deputy. He also outlined the aims of the working group, which will draft relevant legislative amendments, focusing on the following areas: language integration, integration in schooling, the labour market, the local community and cooperation with the diaspora.

This meeting with non-governmental organisations was aimed at reviewing the current situation in this area, and at gathering suggestions from those NGOs that are most concerned with the practical side of integrating foreigners. In constructive dialogue with all stakeholders, we aim to develop as comprehensive a strategy as possible that will deliver in practice.
