Celebration of Prešeren Day in Cleveland

On February 5 we celebrated Prešeren Day in Cleveland. February 8 marks the anniversary of death of France Prešeren, the greatest Slovenian poet, who died in 1849. This presentation featured Slovenian literature, poetry, and music.

This event was organized by Cleveland Kurentovanje together with the Consulate General of the Republic of Slovenia in Cleveland. It took place take place in the Parish Hall at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cleveland. It was moderated by Joe Valencic and Dr. Luka Zibelnik, and the performers included CLARI-TON (Martin Marsic, John Nemec, Tony Hocevar), Slovenian actress Gaja Višnar, Dr. Timothy Pogacar, the students of the SLovenian school at St. Mary's, whose singing was accompanied by Ed Ferrazzoli, and the actors Isabelle Kralj and Mark Anderson. 

The cultural event was followed by a reception featuring Slovenian culinary delights, made by Tavcar Catering and Marko Tomc.
