State Secretary Marko Štucin paid a bilateral visit to Budapest during which he met Minister of Justice of Hungary Dr Judit Varga, State Secretary for EU Affairs at the Prime Minister's Office and Ministry of Justice Dr János Bóka and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Levente Magyar.

State Secretary Štucin discussed current EU topics such as respect for the rule of law in the EU, migration and preparations for Hungary's EU Council Presidency with Minister Varga, who is also responsible for coordinating EU affairs, and with State Secretary Bóka. The counterparts went on to stress the importance of regional cooperation and a credible EU enlargement process to the Western Balkans, which is key to ensuring development and stability in the region.

State Secretary Štucin and Hungarian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Magyar agreed on the need to support national communities, highlighting the importance of enhancing cooperation on the economy and investment opportunities. They focused on current international themes such as the situation in the Western Balkans, EU enlargement and addressing the energy crisis in the new geopolitical context.
