  • Office of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia for Digital Transformation
Ministers responsible for telecommunications held a debate on the digital and green transition at a meeting of the Telecommunications Council on June 3 2022. Ambassador Tamara Weingerl Požar represented Slovenia at this meeting.

The French presidency reported on the progress of:

  • the Artificial Intelligence Act,
  • the Data Regulation,
  • the European Digital Identity Regulation,
  • ePrivacy Regulation,
  • the Decisions on the way to the Digital Decade,
  • the Directive on measures to achieve a high common level of cybersecurity in the Union and
  • the European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles.

We highlighted the importance of the digital sector for sustainable development. The digital sector is important for digital infrastructure and the sustainable transition of the economy.

Slovenia welcomed the initiative on standardized methods for assessing the direct footprint of information and communication technologies. We believe that "the first and foremost thing to do is to monitor the life cycles of digital equipment and the contribution of digital technology to the sustainability neutrality of other sectors, and stressed the importance of monitoring new digital equipment throughout its entire life cycle, from design to recycling, and to prolong the life of products." Slovenia proposes that the digital sustainability challenges should also be addressed in a horizontal and holistic manner.
