Ambassadors briefed on the measures in response to the crisis in Ukraine

Today, Minister of the Interior Aleš Hojs briefed a number of foreign ambassadors to Slovenia on the activities and measures of the Slovenian Government in relation to the crisis in Ukraine.

The activities carried out in specific areas were presented by Nataša Potočnik, Director-General of the Migration Directorate, Jože Senica, Assistant Director General of the Police, and Katarina Štrukelj, Director of Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants.

Minister Hojs expressed Slovenia's solidarity with Ukraine and condemned Russia's military aggression against Ukraine. Slovenia responded to the crisis by immediately sending military equipment and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and offers help to Ukrainian nationals who have sought refuge here. As of 10 March 2022, temporary protection was introduced for persons displaced from Ukraine. Slovenia was one of the first EU Member States to activate temporary protection. Since then, 4400 persons have applied for temporary protection and 593 persons have expressed an intention to apply for international protection.

The event was held at the Ministry and was attended by 27 ambassadors and representatives of embassies.
