The United Nations, together with Germany and the United Kingdom, has organised an event to speed up the system of foresight measures needed to alleviate crises and to encourage collective efforts to better respond to them.

In his address, State Secretary Raščan underlined the utmost importance of preventive humanitarian action, expressing his satisfaction that such activities and projects are already underway in sixty countries. Slovenia supports and follows the key policy recommendations for the development of preventive humanitarian action set out by the agencies grouped together in the working group on foresight of action.

“The development of a humanitarian foresight system is a good incentive to build even better cooperation in the climate and development sectors when it comes to managing various risks,” State Secretary Raščan explained, describing water, the main cross-sectional topic of the Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, as an exceptional example of cooperation.
