At the end of April 2021, Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy approved EU funding for the project Hydraulic improvements in the Municipality Sevnica – Agreement on the Development of Regions. Today, the Municipality signed the project contract with the selected contractor. At the invitation of the Mayor of Municipality Sevnica Srečko Ocvirk, State Secretary mag. Monika Kirbiš Rojs delivered an address online.

The EUR 4.2 million project Hydraulic improvements in the Municipality Sevnica – Agreement on the Development of Regions will receive EUR 2.2 million in Cohesion Fund support. The Municipality will implement the project under the Agreement on the Development of the Posavje Region. According to the State Secretary, today is an important day for Sevnica: ‘By signing the contract, the Municipality can start with the works that will improve the water distribution system and thus ensure citizens a safe and quality water supply.’

The said project is another in a series of many projects that aim to ensure better drinking water and a reliable water supply and that Slovenia has implemented with the EU funds support. Despite many success stories, a safe drinking water supply is still not accessible to everyone. The mayors regularly draw our attention to this fact,’ said the State Secretary, announcing that around EUR 100 million will be earmarked for such projects in the period 2021-2027, with the funds for smaller water distribution systems also being available under the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
