EU funding for a gym, classrooms and a playground in Kranj
Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy has approved EU funding for the project Extension of the gym in the Stane Žagar Primary School – Kranj. The project worth over EUR 2.8 million will be implemented by the Urban Municipality Kranj under its Sustainable Urban Strategy and will receive a good EUR 1.1 million of European Regional Development Fund support.
As part of the project, Urban Municipality Kranj will build a nearly zero-energy extension with a school gym and six classrooms as well as an outside playground next to the Stane Žagar Primary School – Kranj in the Planina residential area.
With the project the municipality aims to reduce environmental degradation risk of urban areas not benefiting from revitalisation. The project will also result in equalising the housing conditions and opportunities for the young people living in the Planina residential area.
Construction is planned to start already in 20201 and, according to plans, the pupils will start using the new premises in September 2022.
