State Secretary Dovžan holds talks with Swedish Minister for EU Affairs

State Secretary Gašper Dovžan held a video conference with the Minister for EU Affairs of Sweden, Hans Dahlgren. State Secretary Dovžan briefed Minister Dahlgren on the priorities of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency in the second half of this year.

The pair are firm advocates of close and constructive cooperation as the EU has been facing challenges that require discussions on strengthening resilience to various forms of crisis, recovery and strategic autonomy. State Secretary Dovžan emphasised the importance of an inclusive, ambitious and transparent debate as part of the Conference on the Future of Europe. He and Minister Dahlgren agreed that the debate aims at reaching as wide a population as possible while providing a clear institutional framework for decision-making within the Union institutions.

State Secretary Dovžan drew particular attention to the importance of strengthening relations with the regions in the immediate neighbourhood to improve the resilience of the entire EU. At the same time, State Secretary Dovžan and Minister Dahlgren expressed support for EU enlargement and exchanged views on the latest developments in Belarus.

Minister Dahlgren wished Slovenia every success in chairing the EU Council and guaranteed Sweden's full support and cooperation.
