  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The publication entitled “75 Years of United Nations” is a short and interesting read providing an overview of the wide and profound range of activities undertaken by the United Nations (UN) through time.

The publication includes a brief presentation of the UN, Slovenia in the UN, and the United Nations Association for Slovenia, as well as the UN System Chart and biographies of the UN Secretary-Generals.

The main part is devoted to 75 milestones in the history of the UN, from its establishment until the current day, reflecting the UN activities in the fields of human rights, environment and heritage, development, migration and health, and peace and security, as well as the activities of the United Nations Association for Slovenia. These key events were selected to demonstrate not only their importance but also the breadth of UN activities and Slovenia's role within the organisation.

The publication concludes with an overview of the UN75 campaign, particularly the organisation's work and achievements so far, which have significantly contributed to a better and fairer world where peace, security and human rights are the fundamental values as well as objectives of the organisation’s endeavours. In addition, the publication encompasses the Slovenian translation of the Declaration on the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the United Nations and the speech by the President of the Republic of Slovenia at the opening of the UN General Assembly in 2020.

The publication was published on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the UN in collaboration with the United Nations Association for Slovenia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.
