Exhibition of contemporary Slovenian design begins its promotional tour in Vienna

The Design Austria Gallery in Vienna’s Museum Quarter is hosting an exhibition of contemporary Slovenian design entitled The Future of Living, which brings together products of local origin and adheres to sustainable principles. It presents Slovenian creativity, highlighting the role of the cultural and creative industries as a driver of sustainable development. Its focus is also on the internationalisation of Slovenian design and on the search for entrepreneurial opportunities and international cooperation.

Starting its promotional tour in Vienna, the exhibition will be one of the main international promotional events of the Slovenian EU Council Presidency in the second half of this year. In cooperation with diplomatic missions, products bearing the Made in Slovenia mark of excellence will be exhibited all over the world, in several versions and sizes. Stops in twenty-five countries have been arranged so far.

The products and services presented combine creativity with a business vision. The exhibition highlights the stories of small brands expressing functionality, passion for life and nature, innovative use of local materials, especially wood, and new production techniques that rely on regional craftsmanship and advanced sustainable production. All of this is also reflected in the title of the exhibition, The Future of Living.

The exhibition was created in collaboration between the Centre for Creativity and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia.

The exhibition curators are Mika Cimolini and Zala Košnik.
