EU funding to improve flood protection and resilience

Ljubljana, 22 June 2020 – Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy, the Managing Authority for the ERDF, the ESF and the Cohesion Fund, has issued a funding decision for the project Ensuring flood protection in the Drava river basin - Ptujska Drava river. The EUR 15 million flood protection project will receive a contribution from the European Regional Development Fund amounting to over EUR 11.4 million. The project will be carried out by the Slovenian Water Agency.
The project supports flood risk reduction and management in four identified flood risk areas. The planned comprehensive structural and non-structural measures funded under the project will improve flood resilience and ensure long-term flood protection along the Ptujska Drava river and the hinterland tributaries in municipalities Duplek and Starše and urban municipalities Ptuj and Maribor. The project will help protect over 1,000 local residents and their property from floods.
