Minister Logar outlined the measures adopted to contain the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, particularly the measures upon entering Slovenia, and presented the current epidemiological indicators in the country. He called for close coordination between Member States in loosening the measures, and welcomed the European Commission’s recommendations on a phased and coordinated approach for restoring freedom of movement and lifting internal border controls, gradual re-establishment of transport, relaunching tourism activities and developing health protocols for hospitality establishments.

Being in favour of the French-German proposal for a 500 billion-euro relief fund, Slovenia hopes to see a timely agreement on a new EU multiannual financial framework, said Minister Logar.

He informed the ambassadors of the ongoing preparations for Slovenia’s presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half in 2021, adding that from 1 June next to 31 May 2021, before its term at the helm of the Council, Slovenia will chair two regional initiatives – the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region and the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.
