The Ombudsman commended the Ministry’s efforts regarding human rights, and he thanked Minister Cerar for keeping the focus on human rights during the previous government, which he headed. Its key achievements included adoption of the Act Amending the Human Rights Ombudsman Act, which facilitated the procedure for the Office of the Ombudsman acquiring “A” status accreditation according to the Paris Principles and provided for the establishment of a human rights centre. The Ombudsman went on to express hope that the current Slovenian Government will provide adequate means for its functioning. Minister Cerar promised to do his best within the Government to earmark the Slovenian national human rights institution sufficient funds to ensure smooth operation.
