Ministerial conference on the prevention and investigation of child sexual abuse

video conference
Virtual ministerial conference on the prevention, detection and investigation of sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children will be attended by the Ministers of the Interior of the EU Member States, the Western Balkans and the United States of America, as well as representatives of the European Commission, the European Parliament, Europol and Eurojust.

The conference will highlight the importance of raising awareness of this pressing issue and present key initiatives at the EU level to combat child sexual abuse, which is also a priority of the Slovenian Presidency in the area of home affairs.

The Ministers will discuss the main challenges in this area and the tools needed to successfully prevent, detect and investigate child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation.

The Ministers will issue a joint statement on the importance of preventive action and awareness-raising, and express support for the development of appropriate tools to detect and investigate child sexual abuse. The joint statement is also intended to influence the European Commission's legislative proposal, which is expected by the end of the year.

Due to the current epidemiological situation, the ministerial conference on the prevention and investigation of child sexual abuse will entirely take place as a video conference. As a result, the entire media programme will also take place online (without the physical presence of the media representatives).
