Boštjan Poklukar, born on 27 January 1971, holds a master's degree in public administration.
He has been employed at the Ministry of Defence since 1991. As a member of Slovenian Armed Forces, he performed various tasks and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. Poklukar has been awarded the Bronze Medal of General Maister and the Silver Medal of the Slovenian Armed Forces, as well as Commemorative Badge Stražnice 1991 as a participant in the War for Slovenia. In 2015, he started working at the Disaster Relief Administration, where he was, among other things, the head of the Kranj Regional Information Centre. In 2018–2020, he was the Minister of the Interior in the Marjan Šarec government.
Poklukar was the head of the Defence Ministry's Administration for Military Heritage from 22 June 2022 until his appointment as Minister of the Interior.
