Ministry of Education, Science and Youth

  • The Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Borut Rončević, announced a comprehensive reform of the Slovenian education system during the presentation of the results of the PISA 2025 international survey. Fifteen-year-olds in Slovenia achieved their worst results in all three domains assessed – reading, mathematical and scientific literacy – since Slovenia has become a PISA participant.

  • The official transfer of office at the newly unified Ministry of Education, Science and Youth took place in the presence of former Minister of Education Dr Vinko Logaj and former Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation Dr Igor Papič.

  • The United Nations General Assembly decided to proclaim 11 February as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science to raise awareness of the importance of the full and equal participation of women in all fields of science. The aim is also to promote the elimination of discrimination and the removal of legal, economic, social and cultural barriers that continue to hinder women’s access to careers in science.
