Slovenia Weekly: Stable conditions for successful work

This week, the Strategic Council for the Economy became operational as the first of the strategic councils established by the new Government. Its task is to develop concrete and viable systemic solutions to improve the business environment, enhance the competitiveness of the Slovenian economy and create conditions for higher value added and greater prosperity. The Government is committed to drawing on the experience and expertise of the business community in its work. According to Prime Minister Janez Janša, improving Slovenia's business environment is one of the Government's key priorities. "Everything depends on how much we create," he said.

This year, Slovenia will allocate a record level of funding to sport. In 2026, more than EUR 19 million will be earmarked for the implementation of the annual programme of sport at national level. "Increasing funding for sport provides stable conditions for the functioning of sports organisations and creates an environment in which young athletes can develop and achieve outstanding results. It is important that we build the sport system on the values of safety, integrity and responsibility, thereby ensuring a high-quality environment for everyone involved," emphasised the Minister of the Economy, Labour and Sport, Anže Logar.

Dear readers of Slovenia Weekly, we wish you an enjoyable summer break and look forward to bringing you more news in the second half of August.
