Slovenia Weekly: A just peace

Following Monday's summit of the Coalition of the Willing, Prime Minister Janez Janša reaffirmed Slovenia's continued full support for Ukraine. The summit brought together EU and NATO leaders and at least 25 heads of state or government. The coalition was established by France and the United Kingdom to provide Ukraine with military support and security guarantees. In their joint statement, the member states emphasised that the peace process must be based on international law, that decisions concerning Ukraine cannot be made without Ukraine, and that European security issues cannot be addressed without the involvement of Europeans.

This week, the Prime Minister also visited Kyiv to mark Ukrainian Statehood Day, attending the main ceremony and the Ukraine–Southeast Europe Summit. The visit reaffirmed Slovenia's continued support for the Ukrainian people in their struggle for freedom, sovereignty and a just peace.

The long-awaited cycle path between Bled and Bohinj has opened. Running largely separate from motor traffic, it is considered one of the most scenic cycle paths in the country. The new cycle path marks an important step towards safer and more sustainable mobility while bringing two of Slovenia's most popular tourist destinations even closer together.
