    The reading room and information room of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia at Poljanska cesta 40 in Ljubljana will be open from June 23 to August 29, 2025, according to summer hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 2 PM.

  • Archive of the Archivalias of the Month of 2025

    The online column Archivalia of the Month has been published since January 2011. Its purpose is to promote the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia and its archival holdings. Presented in the column are archival documents that are interesting visually and content-wise, as well as newly acquired documents or the ones that have so far been overlooked. Also published are documents relating to various anniversaries, current events and many more.

  • Festive greetings from the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia

    The Archives of the Republic of Slovenia wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2025.

  • Closure of the archives and the archival reading room

    On Thursday 19 December 2024, the Reading Room and the Information Room will be open until 12 noon.

    On both Fridays, 27 December 2024 and 3 January 2025, the Archives will be closed for collective leave.

  • A Landmark Achievement Three Decades in the making: New Premises for the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia

    On Friday, November 15, three decades after the initial promises and government decisions were made, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia at Poljanska Street 40 in Ljubljana finally opened its much-needed new archival building, which is going to house all archival employees under one roof for the first time since 1990. This marks the end of an important chapter in the history of the Slovenian state archive, which next year will celebrate its 80th anniversary of operating as an independent institution.

  • Closing of the Archival Reading Room

    On Friday, November 15th, the archival reading room will be closed.

  • Closure of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia due to relocation

    On Monday, 21 October and Tuesday, 22 October 2024, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia will be closed to all visitors and users of archival records due to the move to a new location. The archives reading room and information room will be closed during this time.
    It is expected that on Wednesday, 23 October 2024, the archives and the archives reading room will open in their new premises at Poljanska cesta 40.

  • Closure of our archival reading room and information room due to relocation

    Archival reading room and information room will be closed from Thursday, October 17, to Tuesday, October 22, 2024, due to our moving to new location.

    During this time, the operation of the archive will also be interrupted.

    On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, the archive and its archival reading room will begin operating at the new location at Poljanska Road 40.

  • Changed working hours of the archive reading room and information room on Thursday, October 10

    The archive reading room and information room will be open only until 11.30 on Thursday, October 10.

  • The Archives of the Republic of Slovenia completed the first stage of its move to new location

    Between September 2 and 27, 2024, the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia completed the first stage of its move to its new location at Poljanska Road 40. Archival records, which were temporarily unavailable during the relocation, are once again accessible to visitors in our reading room at Zvezdarska Street 1. The reading room will during the relocation continue to operate according to the summer schedule, i. e. Monday to Friday from 8 am to 2 pm.

  • Opening hours of our archival reading room during the relocation of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia

    The reading room of the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia at Zvezdarska 1 in Ljubljana will from September 2, 2024 be open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 2 pm due to the relocation of our archival and library holdings. During this period, some archival fonds and collections, as well as library materials, will be unavailable.

    On Friday, August 16th, the Archive, the reading room and the information room will be closed due to a collective leave day.

    On Monday, June 24th, the Archive, the reading room and the information room will be closed due to a collective leave day.
