    Photo exhibition »The Karst wildfire 2022«

    On 16 January, a photographic exhibition was opened in the Park of Military History in Pivka and placed on large billboards in front of the administration building. The 38 photographs selected by different authors will be on display until September.

    The FIS Planica World Championships 2023 is the biggest sporting event ever held in Slovenia. Planica, Kranjska Gora and Slovenia will be presented to more than 500 million TV viewers worldwide. For two weeks, Slovenia will become the centre of world sport and a synonym for courage, innovation and development.

  • Two wounded from Ukraine arrive in Slovenia for treatment

    Today, two wounded Ukrainians arrived in Slovenia, accompanied by an attendant. Both will receive full medical assistance and care. In the spirit of solidarity, Slovenia is joining 18 other EU member states in the care for the wounded and sick from the warzone. We are thereby expanding our political, humanitarian, material and military support for Ukraine to include medical aid.

    On Friday, 23 December 2022, at 8 pm, a state celebration took place in the Gallus Hall at Cankarjev Dom, Ljubljana, in honour of Independence and Unity Day. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Robert Golob, was the keynote speaker.

    On 2 December 2022, a ceremony was held in an event tent at the Cirkovce substation to mark the completion of the Cirkovce-Pince transmission line project. The ceremony was attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Robert Golob, and the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban. The Government Communication Office took care of the media logistics.

  • Before the end of the European Women's Handball Championship, a promotional event with Tina Maze

    On Saturday, 19 November, ahead of the finals of the European Women's Handball Championship, the Government Communication Office hosted a promotional event called Slovenia - the Land of Top Sporting Achievements, at which former world-class Alpine skier and I Feel Slovenia brand ambassador Tina Maze was the guest of honour.

    Slovenia is hosting the largest women’s sports event since the country gained its independence. From 4 to 20 November, Celje and Ljubljana will be hosting matches of the European Women’s Handball Championship, together with North Macedonia and Montenegro.

    Upon the entry into office of government, the circumstances at home and abroad indicated that it would be illusory to expect a hundred days of peace.     Ahead of Sunday's Volleyball World Championship match in the group stage between Slovenia and France, a variety of sports challenges were set up in the fan zone in front of the Stožice Arena on Sunday, 28 August, presenting the story of Slovenia's athletic history through these activities.

    At its meeting by correspondence on 11 August 2022, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia decided that Dragan Barbutovski is to be dismissed from the position of Acting Director of the Government Communication Office as of 16 August 2022 and Petra Bezjak Cirman appointed as Acting Director of the Government Communication Office as of 17 August 2022.

  • Numerous promotional activities will be organised on the occasion of the volleyball championship

    For the first time, Slovenia will co-host the Volleyball Men’s World Championship, which is to take place between 26 August and 11 September. On the occasion of this unique opportunity to increase Slovenia’s global visibility as a green destination for top sporting events, the Volleyball Federation of Slovenia, the Government Communication Office (UKOM) and the Slovenian Tourist Board (STO) are preparing numerous promotional and accompanying activities.
