Between 13 and 15 September 2019, the Republic of Slovenia and the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) will host the NATO Military Committee Conference in Chiefs of Defence session with the participation of all allied armed forces and the highest NATO military representatives. The aim of the conference is to enable Chiefs of Defence and strategic commanders to exchange views on topical defence and security matters important for the Alliance as part of its peacekeeping and security efforts.
The conference hosted by Chief of the General Staff, Major General Alenka Ermenc will be chaired by Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, supported by his strategic commanders. The organization and execution of the conference is a national project with more than 600 involved personnel from the SAF and other governmental and non-governmental institutions of the Republic of Slovenia. More than 400 conference participants are expected to attend the conference, including some 150 distinguished guests. Conference participants will be accommodated at the Grand Hotel Union, which will also be the venue of the conference. However, during their stay, participants will also visit other places around Slovenia.
Slovenia is hosting the conference in a symbolic year marking both the 15th anniversary of Slovenia’s joining the Euro-Atlantic Alliance, and 70th anniversary of the North Atlantic Alliance.
