The main topic of the meeting of the Green Group ministers was the Expo2020 World Exhibition that will be hosted by Dubai this year. At the Expo, Slovenia will present innovative good practices in the field of sustainable development under the slogan Slovenia – Green Smart Experience.

In his address, Miro Cerar highlighted that Slovenia has been devoting special attention to water diplomacy for several years now. In the beginning of the year, Slovenia took over the presidency of the Group of Friends of Water and Peace in Geneva, showing continued support for the recognition of water as a tool for international peace and security. Miro Cerar invited the Green Group members to discuss the connection between water and peace.

The Green Group, established by Slovenia, is an informal group of foreign ministers from six countries promoting green policies and encouraging the transition to a green economy and the use of renewable energy sources through their work.
