  • 199th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the Decree on concessions for the construction of new cableway installations at Kanin, which will contribute to the further development of tourism in the area. It also approved amendments to the Act on Remedying the Consequences of Work with Asbestos, took note of the Development Report 2026 and the progress in preparing the Annual Progress Report 2026, and issued the Decree on the determination of psychotherapeutic approaches.

    198th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the Decree on the programmes of services under compulsory health insurance, the capacities required for their implementation, and the scope of funding for 2026. The Government also granted the Municipality of Novo mesto consent to prepare a detailed municipal spatial plan within the area of the national spatial plan adopted by the Decree on the location plan for the Hrastje–Lešnica motorway section.

    197th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted a decision to ensure the timely provision of sufficient gas reserves, thereby increasing security of supply and strengthening the country’s resilience. It also issued a regulation introducing a requirement for prior approval of price increases for electricity and natural gas for certain groups of consumers, and took note of the draft Social Climate Plan and the GRECO report.

    196th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the starting points for the preparation of legislative frameworks in the area of energy security and the reliable supply of essential goods and services. It also adopted the Strategy for the Prevention and Control of HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Sexually Transmitted Infections 2026–2035, as well as amendments to the Decree on Drinking Water.

    435th correspondence session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    Since the onset of tensions in global energy markets, the Government has been closely monitoring developments and has taken measures to ensure that fuel storage facilities remain adequately stocked. However, developments over the past two days have required the Government to intervene more directly in the logistics infrastructure. The Government has therefore adopted measures to enable fuel distributors to resupply service stations more efficiently.

    Joško Kadivnik, the Director of SOVA (Slovene Intelligence and Security Agency), today presented to the members of the National Security Council Secretariat’s operational group a full account of events that took place between 10 and 11 December 2025, along with material evidence of connections of three representatives of the private intelligence corporation Black Cube (Giora Eiland, Liron Tzur and Dan Zorella) to the visit at Trstenjakova ulica 8 in Ljubljana, where the SDS party has its headquarters.

    The State Secretary for National and International Security in the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Vojko Volk, summarised the findings of today's meeting of the National Security Council Secretariat (SSNAV), which he convened at the proposal of the Prime Minister.

    The Government will further reduce duties, thus mitigating the increase in the prices of petroleum products for the next 14-day period, as such an increase cannot be avoided due to the conflict in the Middle East. Without this intervention, there would be a price increase of approximately 26 cents per litre for diesel and fuel oil, and a price increase of approximately 18 cents per litre for petrol.

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the Strategy for the Management and Development of Healthcare and Allied Professionals in the Healthcare System 2026–2036, agreed to an extraordinary adjustment of pensions of one per cent and issued two ordinances: the Ordinance on financial assistance to family farms following the transfer of agricultural holdings, and the Ordinance on the co-financing of vaccination against bluetongue disease.

    With the arrival of two aircraft from Riyadh this evening, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia has completed the evacuation of Slovenian citizens who were stranded in the crisis area in the Middle East due to the ongoing war.

    Government Visits Central Slovenia

    As part of its regional visit, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia visited the municipalities of the Central Slovenia region (with the exception of the City Municipality of Ljubljana) and presented key development projects and investments in the region. As the economically strongest region in the country, strengthening its resilience and ensuring sustainable development remain among the Government’s priorities.

    Key achievements of the 2022–2026 term: stabilisation and long-term structural change

    The Government led by Robert Golob stabilised the country following a period of crisis marked by recovery from the pandemic, the energy crisis and rising living costs, and delivered extensive structural changes in healthcare, social security, housing, education, the green transition and regional development. Over the course of its term, the Government fulfilled a substantial part of the key commitments set out in the coalition agreement.

    At today’s session, the Government adopted a decision to initiate the preparation of a National Spatial Plan for Krško Nuclear Power Plant – JEK2, approved a programme of development incentives for border problem areas, and took note of the preliminary report by the President of the Expert Council for the Evaluation of the Act Determining Emergency Measures to Ensure Public Security on the implementation of that Act.

    The Government visited the Gorenjska region. In the morning, it held a regular session in Radovljica, followed by separate programmes for individual members of the Government. In the afternoon, a consultation with representatives of the business community and the mayors of Gorenjska took place in Kranj.

    191st regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today's session, the Government took note of the status of the siting of the Kranj North motorway junction and of the expert assessment of the justifiability of reinstating the railway infrastructure to the Hrušica stop. It also adopted the Strategy for the resilience of critical entities and placed the tasks of the 114 call centre within the Secretariat-General of the Government.

    Government Visits the Koroška Region

    With its visit to the Koroška region, the Government continued its series of regional visits. In the morning, it held its 190th regular session in Dravograd, after which members of the Government continued with separate field programmes. In the afternoon, a consultation with mayors and representatives of the business sector was organised in Slovenj Gradec, aimed at reviewing key development challenges and coordinating further steps.

    190th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the Programme of Development Incentive Measures in the Fields of Economic, Environmental, Social and Cultural Development and Human Resources Development. It was briefed on information related to the preparation of starting points for drafting legislative bases that will regulate the use of social networks and similar online services, and it proclaimed 5 March as the National Reading Day.

    At a correspondence session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia took note of the support expressed by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, Robert Golob, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, for the candidacy of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.

    189th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia took note of information on the implementation of the provisions of the Weapons Act, which introduced the possibility for holders to surrender weapons or ammunition possessed without a valid firearms licence. It appointed Uroš Brežan as Director of the Triglav National Park Public Institution and approved the content of the call for enrolment in undergraduate and integrated master’s study programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

    188th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Decree on the designation of health regions, introducing six health regions with the aim of ensuring the best possible access to healthcare services. The Government also issued the Decree on the preparation and publication of acts in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia and adopted the position of the Republic of Slovenia in response to the invitation to the Board of Peace.

    At a correspondence session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted a decision on the participation of two officers of the Slovenian Armed Forces in the planning and implementation of the international military exercise Arctic Endurance led by the Kingdom of Denmark with the aim of strengthening regional security.

    187th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government took note of the information on the state and pressures affecting the Slovenian sea. It proclaimed 19 May as Lipizzaner Day, adopted a decision to conclude agreements on the transfer of founder’s rights and obligations from a private university to the newly established public University of Novo Mesto, and concluded an agreement on the gratuitous transfer of state-owned land to the Municipality of Koper.

    The Government visited the Primorska-Notranjska region. In the morning, it held a regular session in Ilirska Bistrica, after which the Prime Minister, ministers and ministerial colleagues continued with working visits across the region.     At today's session, the Government adopted the proposed Promotion of the Competitiveness and Decarbonisation of Electro-Intensive Companies Act and the proposed amendments to the acts regulating spatial planning, mining, nuclear damage liability, road tolling and accessibility of products and services for people with disabilities. It also approved the proposal for an Act on International Treaties and Other International Acts.

    185th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today's session, the Government adopted the Decree laying down more detailed rules and criteria for granting state aid to the media and set out the text of the proposed Resolution on the National Healthcare Plan in Slovenia 2026–2035. It also gave its consent to the promotion of Brigadier Boštjan Močnik to the rank of General.

    184th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted several draft acts, including draft acts on the Slovenian Press Agency, on the developmental restructuring of the Savinja–Šalek coal region, and on nursing and midwifery. Brigadier MSc Boštjan Močnik was appointed Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces.

    At today's session, the Government adopted the draft Employee Participation in Profit Sharing Act, which reduces administrative burdens, introduces fairer taxation and allows for greater employee participation in profit sharing. The Government also took note of the information on the implementation of long-term care.

    182nd Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the draft Act on Salaries and Remuneration of Public Employees and Officials Related to Work Abroad, and the draft amendment to the Act on the First Pension Fund of the Republic of Slovenia and the Transformation of Authorised Investment Companies. It also adopted a decision on claiming partial reimbursement of wage compensation for reduced working hours.

    Government visit to the Podravje region

    The Government visited the Podravje region. At its regular session held during the visit, it endorsed several important legislative and financial measures – ranging from strategic investments at the University of Maribor to amendments to cohesion policy, housing and healthcare measures, and a new regulatory framework for the wine sector. Separate programmes of members of the Government followed, and the day concluded with a consultation with mayors and business representatives on the key challenges facing the region.

    181st regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted draft acts on the gradual closure of the Velenje Coal Mine, on additional emergency measures in the field of healthcare, on wine, and the draft amendment to the Act on the Financing and Promotion of the Construction of Public Rental Housing. The Government approved the second amendment to the European Cohesion Policy Programme 2021–2027 and signed an agreement with the Municipality of Maribor.

  • Slovenia receives €440 million in EU funds for recovery and resilience

    Today, the European Commission paid €440 million to Slovenia on the basis of the fourth payment request under the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). "Slovenia has met all the milestones and targets linked to the fourth payment request and has therefore received the maximum possible disbursement," said Finance Minister Klemen Boštjančič upon the inflow of funds.

    180th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government approved draft amendments to the acts governing Radiotelevizija Slovenija, sport, the legal profession, and equal opportunities for persons with disabilities, the latter introducing additional measures to improve the accessibility of public-use facilities for persons with disabilities. The Government also discussed the announced ownership changes at the Ljubljana Stock Exchange.

    179th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government approved draft amendments to the Acts governing the organisation and financing of education, the guidance of children with special needs, the medical profession, and drivers. In addition, by amending the Weapons Act, it is introducing a temporary option for the voluntary surrender of firearms and ammunition to the police.

    Government Visit to the Goriška Region

    During a regional visit to the Goriška region, the Prime Minister and ministers met with local representatives to discuss the development challenges and opportunities of the area. In Vipava, the Government also held a “field” 178th regular session, at which it adopted a decision to establish a public institution for contemporary dance and took note of the signing of a letter of intent aimed at acquiring the status of a public university.

    178th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At its regular session held during the visit to the Goriška region, the Government began considering the Wine Act proposal, which it will continue to review at one of its forthcoming sessions. The Government also adopted a decision to establish a public institute for contemporary dance, which will ensure the stable development of contemporary dance, and took note of the signing of a Letter of Intent to initiate activities required for the University of Nova Gorica to obtain public university status.

    177th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the Draft Act on Measures to Ensure Public Safety (Šutar Act), which aims to strengthen security across the country. It also approved the Draft Juvenile Criminal Justice Act and the amendments to the Minor Offences Act, the Probation Act, and the Slovenian Intelligence and Security Agency Act. Furthermore, the Government decided that the Slovenian Armed Forces will assist the Police in the broader protection of the national border.

    176th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    The Government of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the draft Act on Measures to Optimise Certain Procedures at Centres for Social Work and Homes for the Elderly upon the Introduction of the New Long-Term Care System and the draft Act on Protective Measures against Strategic Lawsuits against Public Participation (SLAPP). The Government also approved amendments to the Public Finance Act.

    175th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today’s session, the Government of the Republic of Slovenia reviewed the draft Act on the Payment of the Winter Allowance and approved the draft amendment to the Social Security Act. The Government also adopted the Strategy for the Development of Quantum Technologies in Slovenia until 2035, which encompasses research, infrastructure, human resources, knowledge transfer, and support mechanisms, and provides a systemic response to the challenges and opportunities of quantum technology development.

    At today's session, the Government adopted the proposed Act on the intervention measure to extend the validity of annual electronic vignettes. It also decided to reclassify the H5 and H6 expressways as main roads, where no toll will be charged for passenger cars, and took note of the progress of the merger of the Pomurje Science and Innovation Centre with the "Jožef Stefan" Institute.

    At today’s session, the Government adopted the Decree on the Organisation, Equipment and Training of Protection, Rescue and Relief Forces, took note of the draft budgetary plan of the general government sector for 2026, and appointed Damjan Petrič as Director General of the Police.

    172nd regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today's session, the Government began consideration of the proposed Act on the gradual closure of the Velenje Coal Mine and the starting points for the drafting of a proposed Act on the economic development restructuring of the Savinja-Šalek region. It also took note of information on measures and investments in watercourses, which have amounted to nearly EUR 1 billion over the past two years.

    At today’s session, the Government adopted a proposal to amend the Service in the Slovenian Armed Forces Act. The amendment aims to regulate working hours and certain other employment rights for the duration of specific military activities. It also adopted significant changes to toll collection for freight vehicles, introducing higher tolls for those who pollute more.

    170th Regular Session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    The Government approved the draft state budgets for 2026 and 2027, together with accompanying budget documents, and adopted the draft amendment to the Tax Procedure Act. It also adopted a measure against Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the State of Israel, and allocated EUR 1,200,000 for the functioning of the Palestinian Authority in 2025.

    169th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today's session, the Government adopted the starting points for preparing changes in the taxation of natural persons who carry out an activity and for discussing the introduction of a mandatory right of workers to the payment of a 14th monthly salary (Christmas bonus). It also took note of the European Commission's report on the state of the rule of law in the European Union for 2025, which establishes that Slovenia has made progress in practically all the areas discussed.

    168th regular session of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia

    At today's session, the Government adopted a proposed Protection of Public Order Act and the starting points for the preparation of a proposed amendment to the Minor Offences Act. It also determined the text of the application for accreditation of a new public higher education institution, a public university based in Novo mesto, thereby taking a new step towards the establishment of this university.
